- increase your course’s attractiveness, or
- make content easier to find?

Course menus are often left with the default list that makes them long and confusing while many items may go unused. Don’t use LockDown Browser or New Analytics? Not even sure what they are?

- Keeping the browser updated is important. Most browsers are supported. Access to the internet is needed. Broadband access is recommended. Resource: Virginia Wifi Hotspot Locations; Note: Some courses at Emory & Henry use publisher websites or e-portals such as McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage MindTap, Pearson’s MyLabs, to name a few.
To reduce the number of unused or unwanted items that are visible in your course navigation, follow the steps below.
Select Settings > Navigation tab
Either drag an item to the Hidden section towards the bottom, or (1) select the three dots to the right of any item and (2) choose Disable.
Alternatively, you can add items that are disabled in the Hidden section by dragging them up to the Visible section, or choosing Enable from the three dots feature.
You may also try reordering your menu to suit your priorities as well as your students’. Prefer to have Modules listed above Grades, or perhaps Discussions above Assignments? Simply drag an item above or below others, or (1) select the three dots to the right and (2) choose Move.
When you’re done, don’t forget to click Save at the bottom of the page. Be sure to also check your handiwork using the Student View button in the upper left. You’ll get a chance to experience your new-and-improved menu the way your students will!
It is easy to integrate your Canvas course with Zoom by adding links to your Zoom sessions as External Links in your course modules—or as links in any other area of your course.
Emory Lockdown Browser
1. Create a meeting in Zoom (https://emory.zoom.us/) and copy the meeting's share URL.
2. Open your Canvas course and navigate to the Modules page in the course.
3. Create a new module if needed or you can add the Zoom link to an existing module.
4. Click on the +plus sign at the top right of the module you wish to add the Zoom link to and choose External link from the list of options that appear. (Be sure to choose External URL and not External Tool.)
5. Paste the previously copied URL from Zoom into the URL field in Canvas
6. Check “Load in New Tab” to ensure that the content is visible in all browsers
7. Click “Add Item” to Save
